This coffee comes from the Gathaithi Coffee Factory in Nyeri County, which is approximately 160km north of Nairobi. It is scenically located at 1720 MASL between Mt Kenya and the Aberdare ranges, and supports 1656 farmers whose average farm size is just 1/2 an acre. Here, these small holder farmers bring their crop to the coffee factory for sorting and processing. Kenyan coffees use letters for grading, which relates to the screen size of the coffee. This particular lot is graded PB (Peaberry), which is when only one seed forms inside the coffee cherry instead two. Peaberry coffees will generally have a more concentrated flavour.
